Many are the size of small European countries and each one is often worked by only a handful of tenacious station workers. In recent years, however, many of those stations have opened up their gates to travellers and tourists. Hidden within the boundaries of their properties are some of the most stunning natural attractions the state has to offer, and a unique insight into what life is really like out in the bush.
