The Bluebird Precinct Visit The Bluebird Precinct to discover the incredible story of how Donald Campbell made history on Lake Dumbleyung in 1964 by breaking both land and water speed records in one year – a feat that has never been achieved before or since. Lake Dumbleyung Lake Dumbleyung is the largest open lake in WA’s southwest at 13km in length and 6.5km wide. It may very well be the reason the ‘Dumbleyung’ town name exists, thought to be derived from the Aboriginal word ‘Dambeling’ meaning large lake or sea.
